Box Score Brevard College rallied in the final minutes to defeat Maryville College 67-63 on Tuesday evening in Brevard, North Carolina.
The Scots kept pace with the Tornados in the first half with a 15-point effort by Kevin Chong on 5-of-10 shooting. Brevard pulled ahead 38-33 at the intermission after hitting 57-percent from the floor (16-for-28) that included five three-pointers.
MC outpaced their host 30-29 in the final period on 50-percent shooting from the floor including 16-points by Brice Martin on 7-of-9 shooting.
The Scots battled from behind the entire second half until Donovan Jackson deposited a jump shot with 1:28 remaining to give MC a brief 63-62 lead.
Brevard answered with a three-pointer by Cannon Lamb off a Joshua Wilson assist. Following a late Maryville turnover, Levi Lamb found Cannon Lamb for a layup to seal the four-point league victory.
The Tornados (5-14, 4-8 USA South) had four players finish with double-digits in scoring. Qadhafi Turner tallied 16 points on 6-of-9 shooting including four treys. Levi Lamb added 13 points while Demari Hopper and Noah Lee each tossed in 10 points. Brevard connected on almost 51-percent of their shots for the game while depositing nine three-pointers.
Maryville (4-13, 3-7 USA South) was paced by Brice Martin's game-high 22 points on 8-of-12 shooting while the freshman also brought down seven rebounds. Kevin Chong added 17 points while grabbing a game-high eight boards. Freshman Felix Uadiale went 5-for-9 in the post for 12 points while bringing down seven rebounds. The Scots finished 24-for-59 from the floor hitting just over 40-percent for the game.
The Scots will now prepare to host USA South foe Huntingdon College on Saturday, February 1st at 2:00 p.m. in MC's Cooper Athletic Center.
