Box Score Maryville College's Myles Rasnick exploded for 13 second-half points finishing with a game-high 19 to pace the Scots to an 88-63 league road victory over Brevard College in Brevard, North Carolina on Saturday evening.
The Scots dashed out to a 47-35 first-half advantage after sinking 62-percent of their shots from the floor. Before the intermission, Jekobe Coleman deposited 4-of-5 shots for a team-high 10 points. Kevin Chong, Myles Rasnick, Brandon Jones, and Nicholas Clifton each dropped six points on 10-of-16 collective shooting. MC pulled away with 20 key bench points while posting 30 points in the paint. Clifton's eight boards helped the Scots gain an 18-11 rebound margin going into the locker room.
Brevard kept pace with Michael Peters' 12 points on 5-of-6 shooting off the bench. The Tornados shot 55-percent to keep close to MC's complete first-half effort.
Maryville secured the road challenge in the final stanza hitting 53-percent from the floor paced by Rasnick's baker's dozen on 4-of-7 shooting. The Scots' intense defensive pressure forced seven turnovers allowing only an 11-for-36 (30-percent) success rate.
Brevard falls to 0-2 on the season after being led by David Sealy's 14 points. Michael Peters added 14 while Ladji Samoura finished with 12.
The Scots advanced to 2-1 on the season behind Rasnick's 19. JR Sanders and Jekobe Coleman each tallied a dozen points. Nicholas Clifton and Felix Uadiale dominated the paint with a combined 17 rebounds.
Maryville will return to Brevard's Boshamer Gymnasium on Sunday with a 3:00 p.m. scheduled tip-off.
