Box Score The Maryville College men's basketball squad dropped a key USA South challenge to LaGrange College by the score of 88-76 on Thursday in MC's Boydson Baird Gymnasium.
The Scots took a 41-37 advantage into the half despite the Panthers hitting 48-percent from the floor. LaGrange took advantage of their free throws hitting 10-of-12 from the charity stripe.
Maryville kept pace with a 44-percent shooting effort that included 10 points from JR Sanders and nine from Jekobe Coleman off the bench. Nicholas Clifton bolstered MC's perimeter attack hitting a pair of three-pointers as MC shot 40-percent from long distance.
A three-pointer by LaGrange's Bershard Edwards at the 13:17 mark in the second half began a 9-0 run giving the Panthers a 66-55 advantage going into the final ten minutes.
An 11-0 run just before the three-minute mark allowed LaGrange to pull away for the hard-fought league victory.
LaGrange (7-2, 7-2 USA South) was paced by each starter posting double-digit scoring. Julian Cameron went 8-for-13 from the floor with a 13-for-13 effort at the charity stripe for a game-high 31 points. Lincoln Anderson finished with a double-double adding 10 rebounds and 10 points. Bershard Edwards tossed in 14 points on 6-of-10 shooting while Kyle Brown and Ronald Youngblood contributed 13 and 11 points respectively.
The Panthers finished the game hitting over 57-percent (30-for-52) from the floor.
Maryville (7-2, 7-2 USA South) was led by JR Sanders' 17 points. Myles Rasnick and Jekobe Coleman each added a dozen while Felix Uadiale and Daryl Rice deposited 11 and 10 points each.
The loss snaps Maryville's six-game winning streak.
The Scots will travel to LaGrange on Saturday to conclude regular-season conference play with a No. 1 seed on the line for the upcoming USA South tournament.
