Box Score The Maryville College men's soccer program earned their first win of the season after Caleb Platillero connected with Alex Sonner for a golden goal in the 92nd minute giving the Scots a thrilling 3-2 overtime victory LaGrange in Georgia on Sunday.
LaGrange took an early lead in the 3rd minute with a Blake Webb goal past MC keeper Mykal Manfred.
The Panthers took a 1-0 advantage into the half.
In the 67th minute, Maryville's Jameson Elmore recorded his 3rd career assist with a scoring push to Alonso Angel. Angel's equalizer was his 1st career goal.
Maryville took a 2-1 lead in the 77th minute when Platillero directed his 1st collegiate blast on an unassisted goal.
Just before the end of regulation, LaGrange's Cam Perkins directed a pass to Blake Webb for his second goal of the match.
Only two minutes into the extra period, Platillero found Sonner for the game-winner to conclude the hard-fought league victory.
Both teams recorded 21 shots with MC taking 11 on goal. MC keeper Mykal Manfred earned the victory in net after recording six saves.
The Maryville men will return to the pitch Wednesday, March 10th when they host USA South rival Brevard College at 7:00 p.m.
