In their first matchup against Collegiate Conference of the South opponent Belhaven since 2016, Maryville fought hard, picking up their first win of the season, improving to 1-4-5 on the year and 1-0-1 in the conference.
The Game remained tied 0-0 for the first 29 minutes of the contest. The Scots took the lead in the 30th minute when Maryville forward
William Bryan scored his team-leading seventh goal of the season.
Just three minutes later, 2021 NCAA Division III Second Team All-American forward
Ndubueze Henry scored his first goal of the season, sending Maryville to halftime with a 2-0 lead.
Aidan Boyle recorded his first assist of the season on the goal.
Henry wasn't done there, scoring his second goal of the game and wasting no time giving the Scots a 3-0 in the 51st minute of the contest.
While the first half was all Maryville, the Blazers wouldn't go down without a fight scoring a goal off the foot of Christian Figueroa, assisted by Lex Rogers in the 67th minute.
Belhaven would make it 3-2 in the 86th minute with a goal from Igor Rudolph, his fourth of the season on an assist from Aleksander Harris.
Maryville was outshot by Belhaven 15-14, edging out the Blazers 7-6 in the first half, but allowing nine to their seven in the second half.
Mykal Manfred finished the contest with four saves in the net for the Scots.
Looking forward to the week ahead, Maryville travels north on Tuesday for another CCS matchup against Berea at 7 p.m. On Friday, the Scots return home for a matchup against Asbury before going on the road again to take on Warren Wilson on Saturday in Asheville, North Carolina.
