Demorest, Ga. – With a 4-1 Victory over Piedmont, Maryville head coach
Pepe Fernandez recorded his 800th career win (combined men and women). With this victory, it's believed that he is the first NCAA Division III soccer coach to record 800 victories.
The Scots success in this game started early with
Craig McIlwraith scoring a goal on a free kick from 20 yards out in just the 8th minute to take a 1-0 lead. This was McIlwraith's second goal of the season.
Maryville would score again toward the end of the first half with
Jorge Graniel finding the back of the net on a penalty kick in the 44th minute. Maryville went into the half with a 2-0 lead.
The Lions would cut the deficit to one in the 57
th minute on a goal from Ricardo Ruiz, assisted by Colin Vogel.
The Scots leading scorer
William Bryan would score the next two goals for Maryville, with the first coming in the 60th minute to make it 3-1.
Bryan would score again with just 19 seconds remaining in the contest putting a nail in the coffin and sealing a victory for the Scots, 4-1. He now has nine goals on the season, good for second in the CCS.

Mykal Manfred recorded five saves in the contest.
The Scots improved to 3-7-5, and 3-1-1 in conference play. With just one game remaining in the regular season, they travel to Montgomery, Alabama to take on Huntingdon. Kickoff is at 2 p.m Central time.
