Scots Take Home Senior Night Victory

Maryville Scores Early and Often, Defeats Berea 8-1

MARYVILLE - Maryville picked up a Senior Night victory over Berea 8-1 on Wednesday night. Sierra Lee recorded a hat trick while seniors Macy Lindsey and Phoebe Deering recorded a goal and an assist, respectively.

Following the celebration of our two seniors, Maryville wasted no time scoring against the Mountaineers. They would take a 1-0 lead in the 8th minute with a goal from Hannah Smoot, assisted by Hailey Cartt.

After her assist on the last goal, Cartt decided she wanted one of her own. She found the back of the net just three minutes later to extend the lead to 2-0.

The goals were coming fast and furious for the Scots early in this contest, as Lee scored the first of her trio just two minutes later in the 13th minute. Cartt recorded her second assist of the night on the goal. This marks the second multi-assist game of her career, with the first coming on Oct. 15, 2021, against Asbury.

Lee scored again in the 18th minute, this time off an assist from Smoot. Maryville now held a 4-0 with 27 minutes remaining in the first half.

After going quiet for a full seven minutes, The Scots would score again in the 25th minute, this time off the foot of Chloe Chase. Deering recorded an assist on the play.

In the 27th minute, Lindsey would find the back of the net for the Scots, giving them a 6-0 lead heading into halftime.

In the 49th minute, Lee capped off her scoring effort with her third and final goal of the night, scoring unassisted to put the Scots ahead 7-0. Lee now has 10 goals on the season, leading the CCS in the category.

A Berea goal from Kristin Fischli in the 65th minute would make it 7-1. The Scots answered right back though, as Bonnie Lauderback launched the ball into the back of the net for her first collegiate goal in the 72nd minute.

With just one game remaining Maryville sits at 9-4-3 on year and 5-1-1 in conference play. The Scots Travel to LaGrange, Georgia on Saturday to take on the Panthers. Kickoff is at 2 p.m.
