MARYVILLE – William Bryan scored his sixth goal in eight matches to help Maryville gain a 1-1 home draw against LaGrange in the Collegiate Conference of the South opener for both sides.
After a scoreless first half, LaGrange found the netting when Enrique Hernandez scored his league-leading 11th goal of the season in the 49th minute. Hernandez has scored a goal in seven of LaGrange's eight matches to date, and he has four two-goal matches.
But Bryan is matching Hernandez nearly stride-for-stride. Maryville's fabulous forward scored his sixth of the season, this time in the 59th minute on a sizzling shot just inside the right post. Bryan in 12 matches as a collegian (he was injured very early in his rookie year of 2021) has scored nine goals.
Maryville's defense held up the rest of the way, with Mykal Manfred making three saves.

The Scots outshot the Panthers 12-11, including a 7-4 edge in shots on goal. LaGrange played its way to a 6-0 edge in corner kicks.
Bryan finished with four shot attempts, followed by two apiece from Jorge Graniel, Craig McIlwraith and Collin Combs. Hernandez had two shots attempts for the Panthers, as did Matthew Webb.
The Scots slide to 0-4-4 overall and 0-0-1 in the CCS, while LaGrange moves to 5-2-1 and also 0-0-1.
Maryville turns right around and takes on Greensboro in a nonconference matchup Sunday at 2 p.m. at the MC Soccer Complex.
