MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Katie O'Brien tapped in a rebound of a saved shot in the 72nd minute and Maryville salvaged a 2-2 draw at Huntingdon on Friday.
The Scots scored first when
Chloe Chase deposited her second goal of the season in the 6th minute of play. Chase was trying to make it a second goal in the second half when her shot was saved, but O'Brien was right there to toe it home and Maryville picked up an important road point.
Huntingdon's Allison Fisher scored twice for the home Hawks, tallying in the 24th and 65th minutes to put her side in front.
Maryville outshot Huntingdon 25-13, with a 10-9 edge in shots on goal. The Scots worked their way to a 4-1 edge in corner kicks.
Sierra Lee attempted eight shots, including one that hit the post in the 83rd minute, followed by
Macy Lindsey with four and Chase and
Hailey Cartt with three apiece.
Sophie Turner made seven saves in goal and is now 5-3-1 for the season.
The Scots are 2-0-1 in CCS play for seven points, which should be enough to keep them in first place heading into next Saturday's home match against Wesleyan. Maryville is now 6-3-2 overall. Huntingdon is now 2-3-2 and 0-0-1.
Maryville visits Asbury (2-7-1) for a nonconference match Thursday afternoon at 5 o'clock.
