Maryville Secures Convincing 4-0 Win Over Asbury

Scots Extend Winning Streak to Six Games With Victory

MARYVILLE – Hannah Smoot recorded multiple assists on Thursday night as Maryville defeated future CCS-foe Asbury 4-0 Thursday night at the MC Soccer Complex.

MC scored two goals in each half on its way to victory over the Eagles. MC has now won six games in a row, scoring multiple goals in five. The Scots have outscored their opponents 29-1 during this stretch.

Maryville opened the scoring in the contest with a 15th-minute goal off the foot of Avery Brown to take the lead 1-0. Brown tapped it in from five yards out following a great pass from Smoot from the endline. For Brown, this marks her second goal of the season.

The Scots found the back of the net again in the 33rd minute from Katie O'Brien. After multiple great passes across the box, the senior fired a shot from 15 yards out that clanged off the left post before rolling all the way to the far-right corner of the goal to make it 2-0. Anne Marie Konieczny and Katie Corley were credited with assists on the play.

Delaney Muldoon kicked off the Scots scoring in the second half with an unassisted corner kick goal, her fourth of the season. The senior fired a ball from the corner that curved perfectly into the net to put MC up 3-0 in the 59th minute.

Meghan Kimbirl scored the final Maryville goal of the contest. She scored in the 77th minute following a corner kick that went off the head of Sierra Lee straight to her foot, which she tapped in to put the Scots ahead 4-0. Lee and Smoot both recorded an assist on the play. Smoot leads the Scots and is tied for first in the CCS with six assists.

Kimbirl very easily could have picked up her first career hat trick if it wasn't for two tremendous saves by Asbury goalkeeper Maliya Crump.

Following her goal in the 77th minute, she fired a heater to the left corner in the 79th that Crump dove in front of and just barely got a hand on. She put one more shot on goal in the 90th minute, a header that Crump was just able to get in front of.

Maryville outshot the Eagles 18-2 while holding a 56 percent-to-44 percent edge in ball advantage. The Scots held an 8-1 margin in corner kicks as well.

Maryville is back in action Saturday night for a Homecoming and Senior Night matchup against CCS opponent Agnes Scott. Defeat eighth-place Agnes Scott on Saturday and the Scots assure themselves of home field advantage throughout the upcoming conference tournament. Kick off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
