The Maryville teams race in the Collegiate Conference of the South Cross Country Championships on Saturday in Georgia. The Tallulah Falls School Cross Country Course is the site of this second annual event, with the men's race starting at 9:30 a.m. and the women's going at 10:30 a.m. Running for the Maryville men's team are Sam Cocchia, Osvaldo Contreras, Steve Cope, Wyatt Crider, Colton Gentry, Gustavo Hernandez and Jared Long. On the women's side, Maryville lines up with Shelby Baldwin, Kristina Buckley, Isabelle Juda, Anastasia Lamar and Danna Vazquez-Barrera.

The Scots close the regular season with a tri-match at LaGrange against the host Panthers and Agnes Scott. Maryville at 9-5 sits in fourth place, one game behind Piedmont (10-4) and Berea (10-4). Those two teams play Saturday at Huntingdon, which is tied with Maryville at 9-5. The race for a top-four finish means hosting rights in the CCS Volleyball Tournament quarterfinals, set for Nov. 7. The advantage of finishing third or better is avoiding a matchup against first-place Covenant until the tournament championship game

Maryville welcomes first-place Belhaven to kick off its closing three-game stretch. The Scots are even at 2-2 in the USA South and already have matched last year's overall win total of five. Belhaven arrives perfect at 7-0 overall and 5-0 in the USA South. QB Bryson Rollins was named Offensive Player of the Week both by the USA South and the Tennessee Sports Writers Association. Rollins accounted for all four Maryville touchdowns in the 26-6 victory against LaGrange, with three on the ground and one through the air. His three rushing TDs were a career game high. Mike Bethea had a big game last week with six tackles, a sack and a forced fumble.

Maryville is playing Saturday afternoon against Agnes Scott in the quarterfinal round of the 2023 CCS Championship. MC capped off a dominating 2023 Collegiate Conference of the South schedule with a 9-0 defeat of the Scotties just one week ago at the MC Soccer Complex for Homecoming and Senior Night. The Scots finished the regular season with a conference record of 7-0-1, and outscored league opponents 42-2. Maryville's dominant showing in the Collegiate Conference of the South's regular season had quite a bearing on the women's soccer postseason awards. Hannah Smoot earned Offensive Player of the Year, Hailey Cartt is the Defensive Player of the Year, Madison Mc[1]Donald picks up Rookie of the Year and Pepe Fernandez is the repeat winner as Coach of the Year. Maryville members of the All-CCS First Team in addition to Smoot and Cartt are Sierra Lee, Anabelle Procter, Alex Smith and Delaney Muldoon, while Sophie Turner joins McDonald on the All-CCS Second Team.

Maryville is facing off against Belhaven in Jackson, Mississippi in the semifinal round of the Collegiate Conference of the South Championship. The Scots scored twice after halftime Wednesday night and earned a 2-1 road victory at Piedmont in the quarterfinal round of the tournament. Four Maryville Scots were named to the 2023 CCS Men's Soccer All-Conference Teams in a Wednesday release from the league office. Noah Putman earned placement on the All-CCS First Team, while Hyatt McDonald, Craig McIlwraith and Mykal Manfred are among the All-CCS Second Team selections.

Maryville wraps up its 2023 Fall season Saturday competing in the Brevard Invitational, hosted by former USA South foe Brevard. MC is coming off a 6-3 defeat against Johnson at the MC Tennis Courts. Against the Royals, Jonathan Crane and Gabriel Villalonga Serra picked up a point for MC in their match at No. 2 doubles. Seth Green and Kaleb Burke picked up the two solo points for the Scots, with both winning matches in the third set.
