DECATUR, Ga. – Maryville moved into a tie for second place in the Collegiate Conference of the South with a Saturday doubleheader sweep over Agnes Scott and LaGrange.
The Scots finished a four-match week at 2-2 after taking on first-place Covenant and No. 5-ranked Emory – both on the road. Maryville is 11-10 overall and now 6-2 at the midway point of the CCS regular season, tied with Piedmont for second place.
Maryville defeated host Agnes Scott 3-0 on scores of 25-12, 25-10 and 25-19. The Scots then bounced LaGrange 3-1 by the scores of 25-12, 23-25, 25-13 and 25-17.
There were 11 ties and six lead changes in a tough second set against Agnes Scott. Maryville trailed 10-7 early and then 15-12 before finishing the set on a 13-5 run. Kills from

Landry Frisch led the Scots against the Scotties with nine kills, a .353 attack percentage and four block solos. Maryville's winning streak over Agnes Scott has reached at least 17 matches, dating to 2011.
In Match No. 2, the second set once again was the most entertaining. LaGrange fought its way to eight ties and seven lead changes before taking a set from the Scots for the first time since 2019. Maryville had won 25 consecutive sets against the Panthers.

But the Scots rebounded with comfortable set wins to close out the doubleheader sweep and push their winning streak over the Panthers to 11.
Reese Bailey posted nine kills without an error for a .529 attack percentage, with
Caitlyn O'Shield adding eight kills and just one error for a .350 attack rate. Kammer was the kills leader with 11, while
Dakota Vaiese added a double-double with 24 assists and 10 digs.
Bailey for the day combined to attack at a .406 clip, posting 14 kills against just one error on 32 attacks. Frisch led the Scots with 18 kills and registered a .263 attack percentage.
The Scots are off until next Saturday, when they return to Georgia for a tri-match against Belhaven and Piedmont. The Maryville matches are at 2 p.m. against the Blazers and 4 p.m. against the host Lions. Maryville on its home court defeated Belhaven 3-1 back on Sept. 23, but the Scots lost to Piedmont 3-0.
