Scots Halted in CCS Final

Maryville Drops 3-0 Result to No. 24-Ranked Covenant

LOOKOUTT MOUNTAIN, Ga. – Maryville advanced to a conference volleyball championship match for the first time since 2019, but the Scots were halted by No. 24 Covenant in a 3-0 decision.

Covenant prevailed on its home court by scores of 25-19, 25-12 and 25-19 to improve to 34-2. The Scots finish 18-17 under interim head coach Brienna Laskowski.

Maryville was the only CCS team to take two sets off Covenant in a 3-2 loss back on Oct. 3, and the visitors were eager for the chance to pull off the upset. Maryville in Set 1 grabbed leads of 10-6 on a kill by Landry Frisch and 12-8 on an Ally Sokolow service ace. But Covenant went on a 13-1 run to go in front 21-13. Maryville pulled within 24-19 but that was as close as they could get with the first set going to Covenant.

Set 3 was another close one, with the teams tied 10-10. Covenant took the lead for keeps at 11-10, but Maryville hung close by the rest of the way. It was still 18-17 Covenant when the home team made one final push and closed with a 7-2 run for the title.

Reese Bailey finished with five kills and a .067 attack percentage, while Addie Smith had six kills and Frisch five. Hannah Kammer finished with four kills and a .800 attack percentage in limited time.
