HILTON HEAD, S.C. – Maryville lost its second of a four-match spring break schedule in Hilton Head on Monday, falling to Loras 7-2.
The Scots picked up victories at No. 3 doubles and No. 5 singles.
Sam Cocchia and
Seth Green paired up to record the doubles victory by an 8-4 count, while
Josh Fisher recorded a strong 8-2 win on the singles side. WIth the match decided, the teams played the final two matches as one set to eight games.
Kaleb Burke continued his strong play at No. 6 singles. After winning a tough matchup against Cornell College on Sunday, Burke fought hard but dropped his match 8-7 on Monday.
The Scots are now 3-4 on the season, while Loras has improved to 4-4.
MC returns to action on Tuesday with hopes of picking up its first spring break victory. The Scots face off against Western Connecticut State. Start time is 1:30 p.m. at the Hilton Head Island Beach & Tennis Resort.
