DEMOREST, Ga. – Maryville saw its three-match winning streak come to an end at the hands of once-beaten Piedmont. The Lady Lions won 9-0.
It was a sweep across the board. This week's Collegiate Conference of the South Player of the Week
Abby Diggs and
Eliza Cheshire won two games at the No. 2 position for the best Maryville showing in doubles, and
Elizabeth Shwaiko won two games in her first set to put up the best fight in singles.
Piedmont was back on the court for the first time since dropping its initial match of the season 6-3 to Wheaton (Illinois) back on March 9. The Lady Lions are now 9-1 overall and 1-0 in the CCS.
The Scots fell to 3-7 overall and 1-1 in conference.
Maryville plays again Saturday at home against LaGrange (0-6). Start time is 2 p.m.
