DECATUR, Ga. – Maryville picked up a decisive 8-1 victory over Agnes Scott on the road on Saturday.
With the win, The Scots sit in second place in the CCS with a record of 5-1 in conference play, one game ahead of Covenant who is 4-1 on the season.
MC dominated the doubles portion of Saturday's match, winning all three of the duos contests.
Elizabeth Shwaiko and
Katelyn Cook teamed up at No. 1 doubles while
Abby Diggs and
Eliza Cheshire partnered at No. 2. Both pairs won their matches, taking the victories at 8-1 and 8-2, respectively.
Abby Smither and
Mandy Webb were able to sneak past their opponents at No. 3 with an 8-6 victory.
Maryville also took five out of six singles matches in the contest. Agnes Scott was able to grab one point on the No. 6 court, as Katherine Cox defeated
Mandy Webb in two sets by scores of 6-4 and 6-3.
The Scots' next matchup is a big one for the Scots, as they take on third-place Covenant on Saturday in the final matchup of the season before the CCS tournament.
With a victory, Maryville will improve to 6-1 in conference play, and clinch the No. 2 seed in the tournament. But with a loss, Covenant will pass Maryville in the standings and MC will finish as the No. 3 seed heading into the conference tournament.
Start time for that matchup is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Covenant.
