Muldoon Brace Leads MC to Victory

Smoot and McDonald Also Score to Cap Successful Opening Weekend

ELSAH, ILL. – Two Goals from Delaney Muldoon helped lead Maryville to a 4-0 victory over Principia in Elsah, Illinois Saturday afternoon.

Muldoon's brace tonight ties her career-high single season mark from each of her two previous seasons, as she scored two goals apiece in both 2021 and 2022.

The Scots outshot the Panthers 41-0 on their way to victory, putting 21 of those shots on goal.

Hannah Smoot and Madison McDonald also scored goals in the contest for MC to cap off a dominant undefeated weekend in St. Louis.

Smoot led the Scots with nine shots in the contest, including three on goal.

Smoot also scored in Friday's season opener, giving her two goals on the season, and tying her with Muldoon and Anabelle Procter for the team lead in 2023. With nine career goals, she is now just one away from 10 goals for her career.

For McDonald, her 48th-minute goal marks the first of her collegiate career.

Principia goalkeeper Christian Walls recorded 18 saves for a save percentage of .818 as the Scots peppered her with shots all night long.

Maryville has a few days off before hitting the road again, this time traveling to Lexington, Kentucky for a regional matchup against Transylvania on Thursday. Kick off for that match is scheduled for 4 p.m.
