Scots Drop Two on Day 1 of Washington & Lee Invitational

MC Back in Action With Two More Saturday

LEXINGTON, Va. – Maryville Volleyball was challenged on Day 1 of the Washington & Lee Invitational, dropping two matches 3-0 against tough opponents Randolph-Macon and host Washington & Lee Friday afternoon.
 
MC (3-4) fell by scores of 25-14, 25-18, and 25-18 against Randolph-Macon and 25-17, 25-12, and 25-14 against Washington and Lee.
 
The Yellow Jackets improved to 2-2 while the Generals remained undefeated and improved to 5-0.
 
First-year Addie Smith continued the strong start to her collegiate career, leading the Scots in kills in both matches, recording six kills in each contest. In the first match vs. Randolph-Macon, she was also just one assist away from another double-double.

Following Smith were Kenzie Brewster, Hannah Kammer, and Landry Frisch with eight kills each across the two matches.
 
Ally Sokolow led the squad on defense in both games, recording 12 and 17 digs, respectively.

MC's downfall in both matches was the disadvantage in aces in both contests. Against Randolph-Macon, the Yellow Jackets recorded 13 aces to the Scots' two. In the second match, the generals recorded 10 service aces to MC's one.
 
The Scots are back in action for two more matches on Saturday. They will face off in back-to-back matches against Southern Virginia at 11 a.m. and Susquehanna at 1:30 p.m.
