MARYVILLE – Maryville saw its 22-match home unbeaten streak halted here Monday night in a 4-0 defeat to No. 20-ranked Emory.
The Eagles were the last visiting team to win at the MC Soccer Complex, claiming a 5-1 decision two years ago. Since then, the Scots had gone 18-0-4 for their longest unbeaten run since at least 2000. Maryville was 5-0-3 at home this season before Monday's result.
Emory Bozzuti scored twice for the Eagles in the second half and Mikayla Camp assisted on three of the four goals. Kaitlyn Nimmer scored her team-leading ninth goal, also in the second half, and Nikki Grosso got the scoring started with a first-half tally.
Emory led 1-0 at the intermission.
Hannah Smoot fired two of Maryville five shots, with
Delaney Muldoon contributing the team's only shot on target. Other Maryville shots belonged to
Chloe Chase and
Sierra Lee. Emory finished with a 26-5 edge in shots and an 8-6 lead in corner kicks.
Maryville's
Sydney Mahr went the distance at goalkeeper and made six saves.
The Scots dropped to 8-2-4, while Emory is now 9-2-1.
Maryville is back in action Saturday at Huntingdon in a 2 p.m. Central time doubleheader with the men's team. The Maryville men's squad is home Wednesday at 7 p.m. against Covenant before playing Saturday at Huntingdon.
