Tennessee Sports Writers Pick Rollins – Again!

Maryville QB State Offensive Player of the Week

MARYVILLE – For the second year in a row, Maryville's Bryson Rollins is the Tennessee Sports Writers Association's State Football Offensive Player of the Week.

Tennessee Sports Writers Association LogoRollins helped lead the Scots to the USA South championship on Saturday. The Elizabethton native completed 15 of his 24 passes for 314 yards and three touchdown passes to spark a 47-7 victory at Greensboro.

He was most effective in the third quarter, going 7-of-10 for 220 yards and all three scores. Those TD passes went for 8, 82 and 40 yards all within a 9:28 span.

Each week throughout the academic year, TSWA members select players of the week in football, volleyball, soccer, basketball, baseball and softball from among the state's 34 four-year collegiate athletics programs.

This week on the defensive side in football, Memphis redshirt junior linebacker Chandler Martin was the choice. Last week on offense, Tennessee's Dylan Sampson was the selection for the third time this season. And now Rollins joins the list of statewide honorees for the second time in as many years.

Maryville welcomes North Carolina Wesleyan for Senior Day this Saturday in a noon kickoff.
