MISENHEIMER, N.C. – Maryville opened its spring season Saturday afternoon with an 8-1 against Pfeiffer.

Kaleb Burke all claimed at least two games in their matches at No. 2, No. 3, and No.6 singles, respectively.
The Scots fell, 8-1, 8-1, and 8-2 on the double's courts, with the duo of
Gabriel Villalonga Serra and
Ben Wyrick recording the high score at the No. 3 position.
"We had the first-match jitters in some spots," Maryville head coach
Doug Corbett said. "Combine that with playing a good team and these doubles results can happen.
"There are a lot of lessons we can take from this match and apply them going forward. Singles was a much better effort, and we look forward to carrying that momentum into Sunday."
Maryville faces off Sunday against Johnson & Wales in Charlotte, North Carolina. Start time Sunday is 11 a.m.
