HILTON HEAD, S.C. – Maryville fought hard on Day 2 of the Spring Break Tennis Fest but fell in a heartbreaking 5-4 matchup against Webster Monday morning at the Hilton Head Resort.
Jackson Meyer and
James Smith kicked off the match at No. 1 doubles with an 8
7-7
3 victory, but the Scots fell behind 2-1 after losses on the No. 2 and 3 courts.
The Scots and Gorloks split the Singles matches 3-3 with Maryville winning on the No. 1, No.5, and No. 6 courts. At No. 1, Smith won his match 6-2, 6-1 while
Seth Green (No. 5) and
Kaleb Burke (No.6) defeated their opponents 6-3, 6-3 and 6-2, 6

4, respectively.
"Another solid performance in singles today," Maryville head coach
Doug Corbett said. "Just Have not quite put together 5 points yet, but there are bright spots, and the guys continue to work hard. It'll pay off for us."
The Scots have one more bout on their spring break trip, facing off against St. Mary's (Md.) on Wednesday. That match kicks off at 1:30 p.m. at the Hilton Head Beach & Tennis Club.
