HILTON HEAD, S.C. – Maryville concluded its 2024 Spring Break trip Wednesday afternoon with a 5-4 loss to St. Mary's (Md.) at the Hilton Head Beach & Tennis Club.
The Scots picked up one point on the doubles courts, as
Kaleb Burke and
Jonathan Crane defeated their opponents 8-4.
"Another tough one today but I am confident we are taking steps in the right direction," Maryville head coach
Doug Corbett. "Lots of individual performances to feel good about."
The Scots picked up three points in singles play, with
Jonathan Crane,
Seth Green and
Kaleb Burke winning on the No. 2, No. 5, and No. 6 courts respectively.
Green's performance was the most dominant for MC in the match. He defeated his opponent 6-0, 6-2 and improved to 5-3 at No. 5 and 6-6 overall.
Seth has been solid there at No. 5," Corbett said. "These experiences are going to help us in conference play."
Up next for the Scots, Maryville returns to East Tennessee on Wednesday, March 20, for a matchup against local NAIA foe Johnson in Knoxville. That match is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
