MARYVILLE – Maryville kept the awards season rolling with Tuesday's announcements that both
Reed Kemp and
Chase Morgan were named All-Region.
Â
The National Association of Basketball Coaches named Kemp to its All-District 6 First Team (NABC's version of All-Region), and D3hoops.com selected both Kemp and Morgan for its All-Region 6 Second Team.
Â
Kemp was the 2023-24 Collegiate Conference of the South's Player of the Year after averaging 18.3 points and shooting 45.5 percent from the field, 38.5 percent from three and 85.8 percent from the free-throw line. His season free throw percentage was the eighth-best in program history.
Â
Kemp's performances included two of the top five high-point games in the league this year, scoring 39 against Berry and 34 at Belhaven.
Â
Both Kemp and Morgan were named to the All-CCS First Team, and Morgan went on to earn MVP honors in the CCS tournament. Morgan in those two games averaged 25 points and six rebounds as Maryville repeated its CCS title from a year ago.
Â
For the season, Morgan was the team's second-leading scorer at 14.3 and second-leading rebounder at 6.4.
