ROME, Ga. – Maryville wrapped its 2024 Fall season Sunday afternoon, competing in the ITA South Regional in Rome, Georgia.
Like many events in the Southern United States, this tournament was heavily impacted by rain and wind from Hurricane Helene, causing many matches to be canceled.
While many of the matches were not played, the Scots played four doubles matches, and a pair of singles matches.
Field Myatt and
Pedro Cunha lost their first doubles match 9-7, before coming back and winning their next two matches against opponents from Millsaps 8-0 and 8-2.
James Smith and
Jackson Meyer played the other doubles match. The pair dropped their lone duel to opponents from Emory, 8-0.
In singles play, Smith faced off against last year's ITA South Regional Champion, Jordan Theron, from Emory. Smith fell 6-2, 6-2 against the Regional Champ.
Myatt competed in the other singles match, falling to Ruilin Feng by scores of 6-1 and 6-0.
Maryville now has nearly five months off before returning to action on February 21 for a home matchup against Pfeiffer at the MC Tennis Courts.
