Women's Soccer Extends Win Streak, Stays Perfect in CCS Play

LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. – Maryville College Women's Soccer kept their momentum rolling with a 2-0 road victory over Covenant on Wednesday night at Scotland Yard, pushing their win streak to four and improving to 3-0 in Collegiate Conference of the South play.

After a scoreless first half, the Scots wasted little time finding the breakthrough after the break. In the 49th minute, Hannah Smoot slotted home a finish off a setup from Anne Marie Konieczny to give Maryville a 1-0 advantage.

The insurance goal came in the 69th minute, when Katie Corley made an instant impact off the bench, converting a chance created by Madison McDonald to seal the result.

Maryville controlled the run of play in the second half, outshooting Covenant 11-2 after halftime and finishing with a 15-10 edge overall. The Scots also earned seven corner kicks compared to Covenant's two.

Defensively, Maryville was sharp once again as Kristen Burns recorded her third consecutive clean sheet, tallying four saves in the match.

The win evens Maryville's overall record at 5-5-0 and keeps the Scots undefeated in conference play.

Maryville returns home this weekend looking to extend its unbeaten run in CCS action.
