Men's Soccer Ties with LaGrange in CCS Showdown

LAGRANGE, Ga. — Maryville men's soccer earned a 1–1 draw on the road Friday afternoon at Panther Field, thanks to a strong second half and a key finish from Collin Combs.

After a scoreless first half, Combs broke through in the 61st minute, finding the back of the net for his second goal of the season to put the Scots in front. LaGrange answered just three minutes later to even the match, and despite an 11–3 advantage in corner kicks and several late chances, Maryville couldn't find the winner.

The Scots outshot the Panthers 16-12, including 10 attempts after halftime, and forced LaGrange keeper Sawyer Williams into five saves. Brady Hammer led the attack with four shots, while Ethan Denney and Ben Brophy added multiple attempts apiece.

Goalkeeper Christian Alcaraz recorded six saves in 90 minutes, anchoring a Maryville defense that allowed just one goal for the third time in the last four matches.

Maryville moves to 5-3-5 overall and 1-1-1 in conference play, while LaGrange shifts to 3-3-7 overall and 0-1-3 . The Scots return home Sunday to host their next CCS matchup at the MC Soccer Complex.
