JACKSON, Miss. – Maryville College couldn't overcome an early deficit Saturday, falling 31–21 to Millsaps in a key SAA matchup.
Millsaps jumped out to a 10–0 lead in the first quarter before Bryson Rollins connected with Jalen McCullough for an 8-yard touchdown early in the second. The Majors responded with two more scores to take a 24–7 lead into halftime.
Maryville cut into the margin behind a 6-yard touchdown run from Rollins late in the third and a 1-yard score from Jermaine Abner midway through the fourth, but Millsaps' early cushion held.
Rollins finished 26-of-44 passing for 313 yards and one touchdown while adding 44 yards and a rushing score. Zae Richardson hauled in six passes for 121 yards, and McCullough added seven catches for 93 yards and a touchdown.
On defense, Grant Henderson led the Scots with 12 tackles and an interception, while Bryce Currie added nine stops. Maryville (5–2, 2–2 CCS) returns home next week looking to bounce back.
