CINCINNATI, Ohio — Maryville College Track & Field opened the 2025–26 indoor campaign with an impressive showing at Mt. St. Joseph on Saturday, as the Scots women placed 5th (51 points) and the men finished 4th (67 points). Across both squads, the Scots posted 10+ personal records and 10 total school records, setting a strong tone for the season.
WOMEN'S RECAP — SCOTS SCORE 51 POINTS WITH SIX SCHOOL RECORDS
The women were fueled by standout performances in the throws and jumps, highlighted by sophomore
Abbey Cox, who claimed the Scots' lone victory of the day by winning the Weight Throw with a mark of 15.14m — a school record, personal best, and one of the top early-season throws in the region.
Sophomore Rachel Dunbar made a strong debut, placing 6th in the Shot Put (10.64m PR) and adding a 10th-place effort in the Weight Throw (11.48m PR).
In the jumps, Haille Hardman delivered a 3rd-place finish in the Long Jump (4.86m PR/SR) and returned for 8th in the Triple Jump (9.10m). She also recorded a 3rd-place finish in the High Jump (1.45m, tied PR/SR), while newcomer
Shelby Walker earned 5th in the Pole Vault (2.15m PR/SR).
On the track, junior Alana Rodriguez opened her season with a strong day:
- 60H — 12.08/11.53 (9th, tied PR/SR)
- 200m — 27.57 (3rd PR)
The Scots' Distance Medley Relay of King, Gravatt, Walker, and Snodgrass placed 6th in 1:58.61 (PR/SR), while several additional Scots set personal bests in the sprints and distance races.
MEN'S RECAP — SCOTS FINISH 4TH WITH FOUR SCHOOL RECORDS
The men's team delivered one of its strongest opening meets in recent years, powered by junior Austin Umberger, who scored in three events and earned a victory in the High Jump (1.90m PR/SR).
Umberger also placed 5th in the Long Jump (6.47m PR) and 5th in the Triple Jump (12.33m PR), pacing the Scots' overall scoring.
Freshman Jackson Lakeman added another personal record, clearing 3.65m for 4th in the Pole Vault (PR).
In the sprints, sophomore Clarence McLean delivered a huge early-season performance, running 6.90 to take 2nd in the 60 meters, and later finishing 2nd in the 200m (22.65, SR).
The Scots picked up significant points in the 200 meters, with:
The 4x200m relay of Martinez, Muhammad, Lourenco, and Faulkner finished 6th in 1:44.80, setting school and personal records, while multiple Scots recorded personal bests in the 60m.
Throwers Joshua Panetta,
Jacob Faulkner,
Jeremiah Norris, and Sky Pleasant added valuable depth, with some setting personal records in the Weight Throw and Shot Put.
