The Scots fell late to the top team in the CCS standings on Tuesday after trailing by only four heading into the final quarter. Maryville eventually fell 63-52 to Asbury, who has now won 12 games in a row after losing their first conference game against Piedmont early in the season.
The Scots and the Eagles were virtually tied throughout the first three quarters, with neither team taking a lead bigger than a nine point lead (Asbury) through the first three frames. Asbury's nine point lead came in the second quarter, and was erased by Maryville late in that quarter and early into the third. Maryville's largest lead of the game came in the first quarter when they led by three. The Scots did manage a one point lead early in the third quarter, but couldn't maintain that advantage.
Maryville was held to single-digit scoring in the fourth quarter, which paved the way for Asbury to pull away and secure their victory.
Agnes Scott comes into the game at 1-10 in CCS play and 2-18 overall for the season.
