MARYVILLE – The Scots fell on Sunday in their first match of the new year 4-3 against Indiana-Southeast.
Shining for the Scots on the day were
Alyssa Smith and
Abby Diggs who each won their sets and won Maryville's lone double point together. The duo gained their 15
th win together as a pair, their first at the #1 position, winning 6-4.
Freshman
Calliana Kondolios won her first match as a Scot at the #3 position, dropping the first set 4-6, then winning the second 6-4 and then the third 6-2.
Smith won her match at the #1 position 7-5, 6-3, her first appearance and win at the position. Diggs was victorious for the fourth time at the #4 position, winning the match 6-3, 6-1.
Freshman Jasmin Muecke dropped her match at the two spot 6-2, 6-1 in her first team action at Maryville.
Josie McRae also dropped her match at the #5 position 6-0, 6-1, her second complete match at that spot, positing a 1-1 record.
Kondolios and Muecke were paired together at the #2 spot for doubles and dropped the match 6-1, the first time the freshmen pair competed together.
At the #3 spot in doubles,
Josie McRae and
Ella Reyes competed for the first time together. They dropped the match 6-1 to the duo of Trujillo and Adams from Indiana-Southeast.
Reyes also competed in her first singles match as a Scot, playing at the #6 position. She faceed Sydney Adams and dropped both of her sets 6-0.
Final score Maryville 3, Indiana-Southeast 4.
On deck for the Scots is a trip to Virginia to face Bridgewater at 2 p.m. on Thursday.
