MARYVILLE –
Reed Kemp is headed for the National Association of Basketball Coaches Division III All-Star Game.

Kemp has been selected for the game that features the nation's top seniors who are not competing in this weekend's NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Championship semifinals and final in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The game takes place Saturday in Fort Wayne at 1 p.m. and leads into the national championship game.

Kemp for Saturday's game is assigned to Team Lambert, coached by Maryville legend Randy Lambert.

Maryville's senior guard also earned All-Region First Team recognition from both the NABC and D3hoops.com. The NABC's All-District squad is the equivalent of All-Region.

Kemp played two seasons at Maryville and earned Collegiate Conference of the South Player of the Year in both seasons. He climbed to No. 2 nationally in scoring this season at 26.2 by scoring 30 or more points in each of his last six games, and he broke a 53-year-old Maryville season scoring record with 707 points (old record 645).

The Franklin native scored 44 points in the CCS Championship Game for the most points by a Maryville Scot in 47 years. He scored at least 30 points nine times this season, and scored at least 20 points 24 times, including the last 17 games of the season. Kemp became the 37th Maryville men's basketball player to reach 1,000 career points, finishing with 1,200 over his two seasons.

Kemp ranked second nationally in 3-point field goal percentage at 49.5, and ranked ninth in 3-pointers made per game at 3.37. His 91 3-pointers this season are the third-most in program history. He was the conference leader in scoring, 3-point field goal percentage, 3-pointers made per game and free throw percentage (84.6). He set most of his career game highs this season, including 44 points and 16-of-19 at the free throw line (both career game highs) against Huntingdon in the CCS Championship game, 10 rebounds against Gettysburg, and eight 3-pointers and five assists versus Covenant. He ws second in the conference in minutes played at 31.6.

He helped the Scots to a 21-6 record and the CCS regular season championship. Maryville went 5-2 against this year's NCAA tournament field, and Kemp in those seven games averaged 29.1 points. Here is the breakdown: Scored 32 points in a win over Berry, 28 points in a loss to Gettysburg, 29 points in a win over Pfeiffer, 27 points in a win at Roanoke, and 21, 23 and 44 points to help the Scots go 2-1 in three games against Huntingdon.
