DECATUR, Ga. – It was a 7-0 sweep for the Maryville Scots on Friday at Agnes Scott.
One of the highlights was the recent roster addition
Ella Reyes winning both doubles and singles for the first time in a Maryville uniform. Reyes joined
Josie McRae for a 6-4 victory at No. 3 doubles and then battled to a thrilling tie-breaker win at No. 6 singles. The sophomore prevailed 4-6, 7-6 (7-5), 1-0 (12-10).
Calliana Kondolios and
Jasmine Muecke got the day started with a 6-1 victory at No. 2 doubles.
Abby Diggs and
Alyssa Smith posted a 6-2 triumph at No. 1 doubles before Reyes and McRae closed out the doubles portion for a clean sweep.
In singles, McRae won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5 before Muecke prevailed by an identical score at No. 3. Diggs posted a 6-1, 6-1 score line at No. 4 singles and then Smith was a 6-0, 6-1 victor at No. 1. Kondolios rolled at No. 2 by a 6-3, 6-1 count to set the stage for Reyes at her No. 6 position.
Kondolios is now 6-1 in dual-match singles, with Smith close behind at 5-2. In doubles, Diggs is the leader with a 5-1 dual-match record, followed by Smith at 5-2.
Maryville plays again Saturday in Georgia at Piedmont. Start time is 11 a.m.
