Maryville Drops Regular Season Finale

Earlham Prevails 4-3; Scots Seeded Fifth in Upcoming CCS Tourney

CINCINNATI – Maryville lost its final regular season match of the 2024-25 season, a 4-3 decision against Earlham. The match took place at the Western Athletic Club, home to the Cincinnati Bearcats women's tennis program.
 
Maryville dropped the doubles point but Field Myatt won his match at No. 3 singles 6-2, 6-2 to even the score. Earlham then captured the next three singles matches in straight sets to wrap up the decision.
 
The Scots won matches at Nos. 5 and 6 singles. Jonathan Crane prevailed at No. 5 with a 6-2, 6-7 (15-17), 1-0 (10-7) victory, and Gabriel Villalonga Serra won at No. 6 singles with a 5-7, 6-2, 1-0 (10-3) decision.
 
Myatt improved to 12-7 in singles this season, including a 5-2 record at the No. 3 position. Crane's victory was his first at No. 5 all season, improving his overall singles record to 7-7. And Villalonga Serra improved to 7-6 overall in singles with his victory at No. 6.
 
The Scots are seeded fifth in the upcoming Collegiate Conference of the South Tournament. Maryville takes on fourth-seeded Belhaven in the quarterfinal round on Thursday at 10 a.m. Belhaven defeated the Scots 4-3 last Sunday in Maryville.
 
The tournament is once again taking place at the Chattanooga Champions Club.
