MARYVILLE - The Scots improved to 6-4 overall and 2-2 in conference play on Senior Day as the team swept LaGrange 7-0 for their first home victory of the season.
Seniors
Abby Diggs and
Elizabeth Shwaiko led the charge for the Scots against the Panthers, with the duo taking their doubles set 6-0 at the No.1 position, and taking their singles sets 6-0, 6-1 (Diggs, No. 2) and 6-2, 6-3 (Shwaiko, No.1). Diggs improved to 7-3 this season while Shwaiko improved to 7-6. For the duo, this was their first pairing of the season and eighth overall for their careers, and they sit at 4-4 overall. The pair secured the doubles win for the Scots, and Shwaiko earned the winning point in singles.
Newcomers
Ella Reyes and
Jasmine Muecke won their singles sets at the nos. 4 & 3 spots. Reyes defeated Aireona Williams 6-0, 6-1, while Muecke defeated Bobbi Whitaker 6-0, 6-1. Reyes won her doubles match with
Josie McRae by forfeit.
Alyssa Smith and
Calliana Kondolios won their singles matches by forfeit as well.
The Scots will now travel to Covenant on Tuesday in a match that was initially scheduled to take place on March 4.
