Women's Soccer Falls at Sewanee

SEWANEE, Tenn. – Maryville Women's Soccer battled throughout but came up short Wednesday night in a 2–0 loss at Sewanee's Puett Field.

The Tigers (3-0-1) struck early, converting in the fourth minute when Laney Kalsu finished off a pass from Stella Martin. Maryville (1-4-0) regrouped after the early goal and held strong defensively, with goalkeeper Kristen Burns anchoring the back line. Burns finished with 10 saves on the night, frustrating Sewanee on multiple chances to keep the Scots within reach.

The second half brought more pressure from the hosts, who out shot Maryville 17–3 over the final 45 minutes. Burns continued to turn away attempts, but Sewanee doubled its lead in the 76th minute when Katye Dullye scored off another assist from Martin.

Maryville's offense generated seven shots overall, with Hannah Smoot putting the only shot on frame. Madison McDonald added two attempts, while substitute Addison Baggett provided an offensive spark late with back-to-back chances in the 76th minute.

Defensively, Olivia Norris and Addison Kantor went the full 90 minutes, while Elle Fair and Gabbie Halliburton helped hold off a relentless Sewanee attack that included nine corner kicks.

The Scots return home this weekend looking to bounce back and build momentum as conference play approaches.
