Scots Continue to Break Records in Track and Field

FULL RESULTS

DANVILLE, Ky. – Maryville College track & field stacked PRs and rewrote the record book at the Centre Indoor Invitational, with the men producing six school records and 27 personal records, and the women adding five school records and 16 PRs in a major step forward in the heart of the indoor season.

As a team, the men scored 17.6 points to place 12th, while the women totaled 11 points for 13th in a deep meet loaded with strong Division III competition.


Women's Recap (11 points – 13th | 5 SR, 16 PR, 2 SB)

The Scots' women put together a big day in the field, led by a school record from Maddie Adair in the triple jump. Adair soared 10.31m (5th) for a PR and school record, and later doubled back on the track to post 1:51.11 (7th) in the 600m for another PR and school record.

In the throws, Abbey Cox launched a 14.65m (5th) in the weight throw. Cox also turned in a season-best in the shot put at 10.57m (13th). Rachel Dunbar contributed 11.00m (25th) in the weight throw and 10.46m (17th) in the shot put, while Maddy McClellan posted a PR in the weight throw at 10.61m (26th) and added 7.30m (33rd) in the shot put.

In the horizontal jumps, Hailee Hardman recorded 4.63m (19th) in the long jump, while Maddie Adair added 4.27m (24th) in the long jump (PR). Madison Smith jumped 3.69m (29th) in the long jump (PR).

In the vertical jumps, Shelby Walker had a good performance in the pole vault at 1.90m (12th), while Hardman cleared 1.37m (15th) in the high jump. 

On the track, the Scots picked up multiple PRs and key finishes. Shelby Walker ran 11.41 (16th) in the 60H for a PR. In the 60m, Harmonee King clocked a season-best 8.52 (19th), Alana Rodriguez ran 8.41 (15th), and Caitlin Gravatt finished in 8.89 (25th).

The mile was a strong event group for Maryville: Megan Shinn broke through with 5:38.31 (11th) for a PR and school record, while Charlotte Wilson ran 6:16.00 (26th) (PR), Emma Lathinghouse posted 6:17.28 (27th) (PR), and Catherine Money added two solid efforts at 6:19.62 (29th) (PR) and 12:52.32 (23rd) in the 3000m (PR).

Maddie Adair set a new school record in the 600m with a time of 1:51.11 (7th), which is also a PR. 

Lathinghouse doubled back in the 800m with 2:53.35 (30th) for a PR, while Smith ran 3:19.63 (36th) (PR).

Maryville also hit big in the sprints and distance: Rodriguez set a PR and school record in the 200m at 27.50 (8th), Caitlin Gravatt ran 30.60 (26th), and Shinn closed the day with an 11:08.30 (9th) in the 3000m for a PR and school record. Wilson added 12:48.87 (22nd) (PR) in the 3000m as well.


Men's Recap (17.6 points – 12th | 6 SR, 27 PR, 2 SB)

The Scots' men turned the meet into a record-breaking showcase, highlighted by six school records spread across throws, vaults, and middle distance.

The record streak started in the throws with Sky Pleasant ripping a PR and school record in the weight throw at 13.31m (20th). In the shot put, Lukas Yackley delivered 13.55m (8th) for a PR and school record. Pleasant also competed in the shot put and recorded a foul.

Maryville's jumpers were equally productive. Austin Umberger went 6.60m (7th) in the long jump for a PR, and later cleared 1.77m (7th) in the high jump. Manny Palmer posted 13.00m (9th) in the triple jump and added 6.49m (10th) in the long jump (PR).

In the pole vault, Jackson Lakeman cleared 3.85m (7th) for a PR and school record, while Sam Cocchia added 2.65m (12th) (PR).

Additional throw results included Joshua Panetta with 12.62m (24th) in the weight throw (PR), Cam Robinson with a season-best 12.43m (25th) in the weight throw, Ashton Camp with 11.53m (29th) in the weight throw (PR) and 11.54m (23rd) in the shot put, plus Fischer Thomas with 11.11m (28th) in the shot put (PR) and 9.82m (47th) in the weight throw (PR). Yackley also added 10.29m (40th) in the weight throw (PR). Josh Lay contributed 12.15m (13th) in the shot put (PR).

On the track, the Scots stacked quality races across the board. In the heptathlon, Jacob Faulkner recorded 1.71m in the high jump, 8.55m in the shot put, 5.94m in the long jump, ran 7.54 in the 60m (season best), and totaled 2225 points.

In the 60m, Clarence McLean turned in 7.01 / 6.94 (3rd), while Zedrick Drew ran 7.32 (24th) (PR), LaRue Tisby clocked 7.39 (29th) (PR), Manny Palmer finished 7.54 (41st), and Hayden Lourenco posted 7.94 (49th) (PR).

The mile was a highlight event. James LeNeve broke through with a PR and school record at 4:38.79 (16th). Adyn Elliott followed closely with 4:39.17 (17th) (PR), Collin Baker ran 4:52.63 (25th) (PR), Steven Cope posted 4:54.22 (29th) (PR), and Tyler Tangel added 4:56.78 (31st) (PR). The mile group also included Nathan Butler at 5:03.73 (35th) (PR) and Gavin Hill at 5:23.88 (40th).

In the 600m, Sam Cocchia ran 1:34.40 (10th) and Nathan Butler added 1:41.09 (14th) (PR). In the 800m, Adyn Elliott clocked 2:03.13 (8th) for a PR and school record, while James LeNeve posted 2:07.17 (13th) (PR).

Maryville also had a strong showing in the 200m: McLean ran 22.95 (4th), Drew finished 24.97 (34th), Tisby posted 25.40 (35th) (PR), and Lourenco added 26.15 (38th) (PR).

The 3000m capped the day with another record: Tyler Tangel delivered a PR and school record in 9:43.49 (30th). Steven Cope followed in 9:55.79 (35th), and Collin Baker ran 9:57.74 (36th) (PR).

Next up for the Scots is the Last Roar at Mount Saint Joespesh on Feb. 21st.
