DEMOREST, Ga. – The Maryville College women's basketball season came to a close Tuesday evening in the first round of the Collegiate Conference of the South Tournament, as the Scots fell 60–49 to Piedmont at Cave Arena.
In a tightly contested game that featured six ties and seven lead changes, Maryville traded punches with the Lions for much of the night before Piedmont pulled away late in the fourth quarter.
The highlight of the evening came early, as Ella Haney etched her name into the program record book. On her first made three-pointer of the night, Haney reached 1,000 career points, becoming the newest member of Maryville's 1,000-point club. Haney finished the game with 14 points, three rebounds, and two steals in her final career appearance.
Maryville opened strong, taking an early lead and holding Piedmont in check defensively through the opening quarter. The Scots stayed within striking distance throughout the first half and trailed just 30–28 at the break after strong interior play and timely defensive stops.
Kadence Stoner led the Scots offensively, posting a game-high 15 points and pulling down 11 rebounds for a double-double performance. Emily Wilson added eight points, six rebounds, and three assists, while Maryville's defense forced 12 Piedmont turnovers in the hard-fought contest.
The game remained close deep into the third quarter, with Maryville briefly regaining the lead, but shooting struggles down the stretch proved reminder. The Scots were limited to one field goal in the fourth quarter, while Piedmont capitalized at the free-throw line to seal the victory.
Maryville concludes the 2025–26 season with a 14–11 overall record and a 10–6 mark in CCS play, capping a year that included the program's most regular-season wins since 2019–20 and a milestone moment that will be remembered long after the final horn.
