Womens Tennis Starts Spring Break with Victory

MARYVILLE, Tenn. - Maryville's women's tennis continues their winning ways against Earlham College, picking up their second win in a row over them with a 5-2 overall score. They did this on March 14th, the first day of Maryville's spring break, and look to take this momentum forward while using their hard earned rest.

Doubles was a quick point earned for the Scots. #1 pair Calliana Kondolios and Mckena Spencer delivered a swift blow to Earlham, downing their opponents 6-0, and #3 pair Josie McRae and Jasmine Muecke cleaned up their doubles match with a 6-3 scoreline to clinch the point for the Scots.

Singles had some entertaining momentum swings for both teams, starting for the Scots. Spencer had a dominant win at #3 singles, quickly adding another point for Maryville with a 6-2 6-1 score. However, momentum for Earlham brought the score to two apiece with singles #4, #5, and #6 all to play. McRae was the first to break the ice at the tied scoreline, taking her opponent down with a dominant 6-2 6-0 win at the #6 slot to put the Scots up 3-2. Clara Plass at #4 singles was the clincher for the Scots, winning her match in comfortable fashion 6-4 6-1. Maggie Hackney added the final nail in the coffin for Earlham, winning her match 6-3 6-3 to put the Scots up 5-2 and sending Maryville's tennis teams to recover.

After the hiatus, Maryville will be playing at home against Southern Virginia University on March 28th. The Scots look to continue their winning ways against the Knights, beating SVU in their only previous matchup.
