MARYVILLE, Tenn. - Maryville's women's tennis team faced off against Southern Virginia University on March 28th, looking to keep their series lead over the Knights. On this occasion, while extremely close, the Scots fell 2-5, and moved to 4-5 on the season.
Doubles was a nailbiter, with #1 pair Calliana Kondolios and Mckena Spencer continuing their success as a pair by cruising to a 6-2 win to put the Scots in prime position to win the doubles point. However, #2 pair Maggie Hackney and Clara Plass were just two points short of taking the point, playing an incredible set but ultimately falling 6-7 (5-7), sending the Scots to singles behind on the score.
Singles started hot for the Scots, as Spencer rolled her opponent 6-2, 6-3 in her match at the #3 position. Similarly, Plass won her match comfortably, with a 6-4, 6-3 scoreline to send the Scots up 2-1 with four matches to play. Unfortunately, despite each match having a set that went to a tiebreak, the Scots couldn't convert the matches, and in turn fell 2-5 in the match.
