SEWANEE, Tenn. – The Maryville College volleyball team fell to the Millsaps Majors in Sunday evening's matchup. The Scots finished with 26 kills, 38 digs, and 24 assists. Ruby Walton led Maryville with 10 kills, followed by Addison Appleby with six and Aubrey Gibson with three. Dakota Vaiese and Megan Fairburn split the setting duties with 11 and 10 assists, respectively, while Kyrah Bowles led the Scots defensively with 11 digs.

Millsaps opened set one with back-to-back kills, but the Scots responded with kills from Charli Grubbs and Walton to take a 3-2 lead. Maryville maintained its advantage for much of the set behind successful attacks from Grubbs, Vaiese, Appleby, and Walton. The Majors later used a 5-0 run to regain the lead, 24-20. The Scots answered with three straight points to cut the deficit to 24-23, but a Maryville attack error gave Millsaps the 25-23 set-one victory.

The Majors took control early in the second set, taking the lead on the third point and never looking back. The Scots recorded kills from Alexis Davis, Walton, Grubbs, and Appleby, but were unable to put together a sustained run. Millsaps took the second set, 25-11.

Set three opened with another back-and-forth battle, with Maryville earning the first point on a kill from Jasmine Gross. Kills from Walton and Gibson helped the Scots regain the lead at 8-7. Millsaps responded with an 8-0 run to take control of the set. Maryville answered with kills from Fairburn and Gibson, but the Majors continued to hold the advantage. Following a final kill from Walton, Millsaps closed out the set, 25-14, to secure the match victory.

The Scots return to action Wednesday, September 30, at 7:00 PM, when they host the Sewanee Tigers for Maryville's first home conference match of the season.
