Chase Ridenour

  • Title
    Student Assistant Coach
Chase Ridenour joined the Maryville coaching staff in time for the 2023-24 season as a student assistant coach under coaches Raul Placeres and Jeff McCord.

Because of injuries, Ridenour played just one full season for Placeres and McCord at Maryville. But that 2021-22 season was a good one for the Knoxville native. He finished second on the team in 3-point percentage at 39.8, 3-pointers made with 47, and free throw percentage at 82.6.

Ridenour helped the Scots finish 20-4 that year and tie for the regular season USA South Western Division championship. That run included a 14-game winning streak and the best start in program history at 18-1. The sharp-shooting guard scored a career-high 27 points to spark a 95-80 win at Huntingdon, opening the game by scoring 17 of the team's first 21 points. In that stretch, Ridenour was 5-of-5 from long range on his way to 24 points in the first half . By game's end, he set a career-high for made threes with 7-of-9. Ridenour also started fast in an 82-74 win at LaGrange, scoring Maryville's first 10 points to help the Scots jump in front 12-1. He tallied 19 of his game-high 22 points in the first half.

For the 2021-22 season, Ridenour finished third on the team in scoring at 11.0. He started and played just one game because of injury in 2020-21, and he started six of his seven appearances in 2022-23 before injuries again halted his season. Ridenour began his collegiate career with one season at Tennessee Tech in the Division I ranks. He appeared in 12 games for the Golden Eagles, including seven in OVC play.

A 2,000-point scorer at Webb School in Knoxville, Ridenour earned All-State honors three straight seasons and was named Knoxville Player of the Year. He averaged 22 points as a senior and 21 as a junior.
