Myles Rasnick returned to Maryville College in 2025 as an assistant men’s basketball coach after establishing himself as one of the most decorated players in program history. A Knoxville native, Rasnick made an immediate impact when he transferred from East Tennessee State to Maryville in 2021, going on to become a four-year starter and leader for the Scots.
Over his 62-game career in the Orange and Garnet, Rasnick tallied 1,038 points (16.7 ppg), 305 rebounds (4.9 rpg), 208 assists (3.4 apg), 142 steals (2.3 spg), and 48 blocked shots, while shooting an elite 51.4% from the field, 41.2% from three, and 89.3% from the free-throw line. His career free-throw mark remains the best in program history.
Rasnick’s senior season in 2022-23 was one for the record books. He averaged 18.6 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per game, earning CCS Player of the Year honors, First Team All-Region recognition, and becoming just the fourth All-American in Maryville basketball history. He also guided the Scots to both the Collegiate Conference of the South regular season and tournament titles, earning Tournament Most Outstanding Player honors. Over his career, Rasnick collected numerous accolades, including:
-
2023 Maryville College J.D. Davis Award
-
2022-23 Team Captain
-
2022-23 NABC All-America Third Team
-
2022-23 All-District 6 First Team (NABC & D3hoops.com)
-
2021-22 USA South Defensive Player of the Year
-
Two-time First Team All-Conference Selection
-
Two-time Conference Tournament Most Outstanding Player
Following graduation, Rasnick extended his career professionally, competing in Poland and Latvia, where he continued to excel as a scorer and playmaker.
Now, he returns home to Maryville to begin his coaching career, stepping into the role long held by Jeff McCord, who retired from full-time coaching in 2025. Head Coach Raul Placeres praised Rasnick’s return, citing his “deep understanding of what it means to be a Scot” and his ability to inspire the next generation of players.
For Rasnick, the opportunity is personal:
“It is truly a dream to have the opportunity to coach at my alma mater. Not many people get a chance to both play and coach at the same school. Maryville holds a special place in my heart, and I can’t wait to help continue the success this program has built. Go Scots!”
