Box Score Maryville's men's soccer team was unable to keep pace with a tough opponent in the visiting Monarchs of Methodist University on Sunday afternoon.
After playing a scoreless first half, Methodist scored the only goal of the match in the 86th minute of play. The Scots would play a tough game against one of the better teams in the USA South, being out shot 7-2 on the afternoon.
"We played probably the best game we've played all season today," said head coach
Pepe Fernandez. "We played our tails off and I couldn't be more proud of the seniors on senior day as well as the rest of the guys."
The Scots drop to 4-10-2 the year and 2-4-1 in USA South competition. Maryville will now travel for a Wednesday contest against Ferrum College. Game time is set for
7:00 pm.
