Box Score The Maryville College volleyball team finished off the regular season with a USA South sweep of Mary Baldwin and Methodist in Staunton, Virginia on Saturday afternoon.
MC advanced to 19-11 and 10-1 in USA South challenges after defeating Mary Baldwin 25-12, 25-23, and 25-9. The Scots completed their weekend conference sweep with a 25-16, 25-16, and 25-20 win over the Monarchs.
Sophia del Campo displayed her attack skills against the Fighting Squirrels with 10 kills. She finished with a double-double after adding 13 digs on defense. Doniqua Flack finished with eight kills while Jaclyn Stephens added seven kills. Lauren Bonee directed the offense with 33 assists while Stephanie Gleason paced the defense with 14 digs. Mary Baldwin falls to 0-24 on the season and 0-10 within the USA South.
Against the Monarchs of Methodist University, MC's Kelsey Handel connected on 10 of 13 kill attempts to pace the Scots scoring. Kara Strickland and Kristy Newman each added seven kills. Teri Lind posted 31 assists while Strickland and Kristen Sharp led the defense with 11 and 10 digs respectively. Methodist falls to 15-11 on the season and 4-6 within the league.
Maryville will enter the USA South conference tournament next weekend as the No. 2 seed. The 2012 USA South Fall Festival will feature the championships of the Men's Soccer, Women's Soccer and Volleyball Conference Tournaments and take place on Friday and Saturday, November 2-3 in Martinsville, Virginia.
