The Maryville College Lady Scots volleyball team took a commanding 2-1 lead in a road match at Berry College, but the Vikings fought back to claim the deciding pair of sets to defeat MC 3-2 on Friday evening in Rome, Georgia. The Scots took the first set 25-21, lost the second challenge 19-25 before winning the third set 25-20. Berry promptly took the final sets by the scores of 21-25 and 11-15.
Maryville used a strong effort by setter
Teri Lind who finished with 39 assists. Her main targets were
Kara Strickland (14 kills) and
Kristen Sharp (15 kills). The duo complete a pair of double-double efforts with Strickland adding 21 digs while Sharp posted 15 digs. The Scots collectively posted 15 block assists.
MC (9-10) will continue their swing through Georgia this weekend. They will challenge William Peace College and Piedmont College in Demorest, Georgia during a USA South tri-match in Demorest, Georgia.
