Box Score 2 Following a disappointing five set loss to Rhodes College during the final day of the 2012 MC Volleyball Invitational, the Maryville College Scots rebounded for a strong 3-1 win over Washington & Lee University on Saturday afternoon.
MC's Kara Strickland posted a double-double with team-high in kills (13) and digs(20) to pace the Scots against Rhodes. The Lynx outscored MC 27-25, 25-27, 25-22, 24-26, before taking the match with a 15-13 final set victory. Kelsey Handel added 11 kills while Teri Lind handed out 45 assists. Mallory Bonee helped the defense with 16 digs while Morgan Hall added 10 digs. Jillian Galewski was strong at the net with seven blocks.
Rhodes (1-3) was led by Meagan Mansfield's 24 kills. Lexie Hall added 17 kills to help the Lynx to their first victory of the season.
Strickland rallied the Scots as well in the four set win over the Generals in the night cap. MC defeated the ODAC power by the scores of 26-24, 10-25, 25-18, and 25-19. The senior deposited 11 kills while leading Mc with 14 digs. Mallory Bonee added 13 digs while Kristen Sharp posted four blocks.
Washington & Lee (2-2) was led at the net by Anna Lausberg and Allison Rouse who combined for 25 kills.
The Scots (2-2) will now prepare for extensive road challenges over the next few weekends. The will travel to Covenant College on Tuesday before a weekend tournament in Cincinnati, Ohio at Mount St. Joseph College.
