Box Score 2 The Maryville College volleyball team extended their USA South winning streak to eleven matches with a pair of league match victories over William Peace and North Carolina Wesleyan in Lookout Mountain, Georgia on Saturday afternoon.
The Scots defeated William Peace 3-1 by the scores of 25-23, 21-25, 25-17, and 25-14. The loss moves William Peace to 21-5 and 9-3 in USA South challenges. Kelsey Handel and Mary Kate White each tallied eight kills to pace the Scots' offense. Kristen Sharp added seven kills. Lauren Bonee and Kristi Bowlin combined for 29 assists while Stephanie Gleason and Mallory Bonee led the defensive effort with eight digs each. Handel added four blocks on defense with Sharp and Jaclyn Stephens tossing in three blocks each.
Maryville completed the key road win with a sweep of NC Wesleyan 3-0 by the scores of 25-14, 25-18, and 25-17. The Bishops fell to 5-19 and 4-9 in league play. Handel was once again strong at the net with eight kills and three blocks. Sophia del Campo and Julie Vineyard each deposited seven kills with del Campo adding 14 digs on defense. Stephanie Gleason and Morgan each recorded three service aces while Hall led the defense with 15 digs.
The Scots advance to 14-15 overall and 11-0 in USA South matches. Maryville will host Piedmont College and Martin Methodist in the Boydson Baird Gymnasium on Sunday with action beginning at 1:00 on Randy Lambert Court.
