Box Score 2 The Maryville College volleyball team has rolled to a seven match winning streak after a sweep on Sunday over Piedmont and Martin Methodist in the Boydson Baird Gymnasium. The Scots took down USA South foe Piedmont 3-1 by the scores of 22-25, 25-19, 25-11, and 25-22. MC closed the tri-match with a five set come from behind victory over the Red Hawks 3-2 by the scores of 25-16, 18-25, 24-26, 25-15, and 15-4.
Against the Lions, Maryville was paced at the net by Kelsey Handel and Julia Vineyard. Each posted 15 kills with Vineyard adding three blocks. Kristen Sharp tallied seven kills while returning 22 digs. Mallory Bonee was also a force on defense returning 22 digs. Kristi Bowlin directed the offense with 27 assists while Lauren Bonee added 17 assists. Piedmont fell to 22-5 and 8-4 in the USA South while MC advanced to 15-15 and a perfect 12-0 in league play.
In a non-conference challenge against Martin Methodist, an NAIA program from Pulaski, Tennessee, the Scots were led by Kristen Sharp's double-double consisting of 17 kills and 17 digs. Kelsey Handel added 16 kills and three blocks at the net. Mary Kate White posted 13 kills while Jaclyn Stephens tallied seven kills and five blocks. Lauren Bonee secured 33 assists with Kristi Bowlin adding 18 assists while adding four service aces.
Maryville is now 16-15 on the season and will prepared to travel to Fayetteville, North Carolina next Saturday to challenge USA South opponents Meredith and Methodist.
