Box Score 2 The Maryville College volleyball team celebrated their regular season finale with a Senior Day tribute as the Scots swept Huntingdon College and LaGrange College to win the USA South regular season title with a perfect 16-0 league mark.
MC swept Huntingdon 3-0 by the scores of 25-12, 25-16, and 25-20 behind the double-double effort of senior Kristen Sharp. Sharp deposited a game-high 12 kills while returning 13 digs to pace the Scots. Kelsey Handel added six kills while Madison Coker, Mary Kate White, and Abrianna Jones each stroked five kills. Lauren Bonee contributed 15 assists and three service aces.
The Scots wrapped up the season with a 3-0 sweep of Huntingdon by the scores of 25-15, 25-15, and 25-15. Sharp added 11 kills and four aces while Mary Kate White and Kelsey Handel tallied nine and eight kills respectively. Lauren Bone directed the offense with 21 assists while Kristi Bowlin added 16 assists. Mallory Bonee paced the defense with a dozen kills.
Seniors Kristen Sharp, Jaclyn Stephens, and Jillian Galewski helped Maryville go 81-53 while playing one of the most demanding schedules in the NCAA Division III. They went 40-2 in all conference challenges during their collegiate career including a 26-1 mark over the past two seasons in the USA South.
Maryville finishes the regular season 21-15 overall and 16-0 in the USA South. They will be the No.1 Seed in the upcoming USA South Volleyball Championships in Martinsville, Virginia beginning next weekend.
